👩‍🦱Haircare adjustment

I've always loved using natural ingredients in my hair care routine, and lemongrass has been a favorite for its refreshing scent and antibacterial properties. But over time, I started to notice something wasn’t quite right. While my hair initially felt clean and invigorated, it began to feel stripped—dry, a bit brittle, and lacking its natural shine.

After a little research and some personal trial and error, I discovered that lemongrass, though great in small doses, can actually strip your hair of its natural oils if used too often. That was my wake-up call.

To give my hair a chance to recover and rebalance, I decided to cut back my lemongrassy recovery hair oil treatment to just once a week as an overnight treatment. On the other days, I swapped it out for something much richer and more hydrating: castor oil.
Castor oil is thick, nourishing, and known for locking in moisture. I applied it during the week, focusing on my ends, and used a shower cap while steaming in the shower to help it penetrate better. The result? My hair drank it up.

Within just a few hours of that first castor oil treatment, I could feel a difference. My hair felt softer, hydrated, and less brittle. It was the hydration reset my curls desperately needed. The steam helped open my hair cuticles, letting the castor oil really get in there and do its job.

Lemongrass is still part of my routine—but in moderation. My new approach is all about balance: clarifying when needed, and deeply moisturizing in between. If you're feeling like your natural hair treatments aren't working like they used to, it might be time to adjust how often you're using them—and don't underestimate the power of a simple oil like castor paired with a little steam.
Your hair will thank you.
