When interviews lead to silence - Ghosted?

I’ve been for three interviews in the past few months — all with promising prospects. On paper, I’m highly qualified. I even considered accepting a lower salary, just for the opportunity to get my foot in the door and start contributing again. Life is on the brink of a new chapter for me, and I’m ready to show up, work hard, and grow in a new direction.

But from March until now, silence. Not a word from any of them.

I want to be honest here — I live with diabetes, and over time, it’s taken a toll on my health, including my teeth. It's something I’m very aware of. Still, I present myself professionally — I dress well, I do my hair, and I carry myself with pride. Yet, after each interview, I’m left wondering…

Are companies really looking for someone effective, or are they looking for someone who looks like a model?

This thought sits heavy with me. It’s painful to be ghosted — not just because it feels disrespectful, but because it chips away at the hope you carry into every interview. Whether it’s a “yes” or a “no,” some kind of feedback helps bring closure. Instead, I’m left in limbo, replaying conversations and trying to guess where it went wrong.

I am eager to work. I’m motivated and skilled, and I bring value. But it’s hard not to question yourself when all you get back is silence.

I don’t have the answers yet. But I do know that this is not just my experience — and maybe, if you’re reading this and you’ve been through it too, you’ll feel a little less alone.
