Hitting the books after forty
What a moment. I am studying, and yes I am to become a teacher in South Africa to earn my SACE certificate and then on to PGCE for a full-on teacher diploma. With great joy, I say that my father-in-law has been so kind to sponsor me through his consultancy and for me to Educate myself further. The love of studying, only now to make the time. It has always been a dream of mine to successfully fulfill my destiny as a teacher and getting the Diploma will be a lifelong dream of mine. In saying that, even though much to my dislike of juggling a job and time with my little family, I find myself finishing off files that should have been done a long time ago. Yes, I have my certificate in Teaching, however, the Diploma and moving forward are a must, especially for the dreams of teaching overseas. I am almost halfway and I have to make a concerted effort to take my days off, seriously for these files alone. It is never too late my stepdad would say, and yes shift work and home life are always going to be a priority, but this should be next on the list. I would have loved to have been in my PHD phase by now, and Dr Sandys. But we headed there, surely but necessary. I have a point to prove to everyone who thought otherwise, however, I am proving this to myself and the future towards my retirement. I have a passion for children and a genuine love for educating and education. Now you might ask how will I teach this generation with an old soul. They are mouldable and love discipline to a degree. Children have a way of inspiring them when they cannot find it at home, or they are just beaten down by society. I would like to take my Chef Diploma and incorporate this so that they can be the next Chef generation. Food and love always go together! As I negotiate the time I have, and the desire to fulfill this goal I find myself more inspired that I have finished my files right now and am about to deliver them for the next lot of files. Up and onwards, after much deliberation and a genuine heartfelt festive season, celebrating the completion and continuation of my Diploma in Teaching. Salute to all the teachers who already have given so much of their dedication. To my grandmother, who dedicated her life to raising them right and those that are yet to come. May the children be ready for exposure to greatness, and the next presidency to change the way we see our country. Until we as teachers, become teachable. G xxx
